LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ginnie Newhart, the wife of legendary comedian Bob Newhart, died at 82 on April 23 after a long illness. Bob took to Twitter and Facebook to issue a public statement about the news that read, "We lost our beloved Ginnie Quinn Newhart - Wife, Mother and Grandmother on April 23rd, 2023 after a long battle with illness. She was our rock and we miss her terribly."
Though there is no information regarding her cause of death, it was reported that she was diagnosed with liver cancer years ago, states Following the news of the death, Bob’s 'Newhart' co-star Julia Duffy paid tribute to Ginnie and wrote, "Funny, candid, huge heart. Ginnie and Bob met on a blind date in 1962
Bob and Ginnie, who was born Virginia Quinn, met on a blind date in 1962 set up by comedian Buddy Hackett. One year later, they were married.
