The Philadelphia Eagles introduced a new wordmark Thursday, updating to a sleeker, slimmer and bolder white font. This replaces the old wordmark in all forms of media and public-facing materials. The ‘Eagles head’ will remain the team’s primary logo.
The new wordmark will not appear under the collar of the team's jerseys this season. The 2024 season will be the earliest the wordmark change will be reflected on the jerseys based on the timeframe of uniform changes, according to The Athletic's Zach Berman.
This is the latest change for Philadelphia, which also announced earlier this offseason that the team will have black helmets in 2022 and Kelly green uniforms and helmets in 2023, per owner Jeffrey Lurie. Kelly green uniforms were last used in 2010.
The Eagles will open the regular season in Detroit against the Lions on Sept. 11.

How do you think Eagles fans will react to the change?
Zach Berman, Eagles beat writer: This will ultimately be a matter of taste and sensibilities. There will be fans who were accustomed to the previous wordmark and/or dislike the new wordmark and will voice displeasure. There will be fans ready for something new and enjoy a cleaner look.
As is always the case, there will be fans who will rebel against anything that isn't Kelly green — a shade that holds a special place in the hearts of many loyalists. Like most changes, it will take some time to get used to and fans will eventually move on. But it's important to note this isn't a logo change, so the shift won't be as visible as it would if the Eagles were modifying the Eagles head.
