Daniel Radcliffe was born on July 23, 1989 in West London, England. He is famously known for playing Harry Potter in the feature film series based on the books written by JK Rowling.
Radcliffe’s first on-screen debut was when he was only 10 years old playing the young David Copperfield in BBC’s televised two-part adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel, David Copperfield. At the age of 11, Radcliffe auditioned and got the part as Harry Potter. So far, he has starred in six Harry Potter films and will finish the last two (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be split into two movies) by the end of 2011.
After wrapping up production of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, he received critical acclaim for his starring role in the stage play Equus, which garnered him worldwide attention due to a nude scene. He then repeated his performance on Broadway.
Although heterosexual, Radcliffe is a gay rights activist and has spoken out against homophobia. He recently filmed a public service announcement for “The Trevor Project” promoting awareness around gay teen suicide prevention.
